Be A Light
Be A Light
You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
A friend of mine recently passed away. Her name was Orma. She was friendly and outgoing and I think everyone liked her. I have been thinking about her lately and about how she affected others in a positive way. I think everyone knows at least one person like Orma.
In the above Scripture, Jesus said we are to be a light of the world. This means that we are supposed to encourage others and share God’s love with them. Everyone can use encouragement. Just look around you at your family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. Notice other people. So many people are sad or angry or stressed out or burdened with their problems. You can see it in their faces, hear it by what they say and how they say it, and tell it by how they act. You can make a difference in their life! All you have to do is smile at them, be nice to them, or say something nice and encouraging to them. It would mean a lot to them and it would mean a lot to you too! When you are nice to someone, the good feeling reflects off of them and comes back to you! Even if you feel a little down, reach out to someone and share God’s love! It will make both of you feel better!
Kindness can be contagious too! If you brighten someone’s day, they may in turn brighten someone else’s day! It can have a ripple effect!
My friend Orma will be missed and remembered fondly. May we all be a light and share God’s love like she did.
Dear God,
Thank You for all Your blessings!!! Help me to shine Your light!!! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
