A New Day
A New Day
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! 2 Corinthians 5:17
I hate to admit this, but I recently had a “milestone” Birthday; I won’t tell you which one. Birthdays usually don’t bother me; I actually think it’s important to recognize them and usually enjoy celebrating them. I had a feeling, however, that this one was going to be different. I won’t say that I was “dreading” it, but I wasn’t looking forward to it either. So I handled it the best way that I could: I took the day off of work and went shopping with a girlfriend!!! I think most women will agree that is a fun way to spend a Birthday (or any day)!!!
I also decided to change my attitude and my thinking about that day. Instead of thinking about my past, how much of my life was over, and even some regrets, I decided to focus on the present and the future instead. After all, the past is the past, and there’s nothing you can do to change it. So why dwell on it?
I happen to like clichés, and there are many of them that are true and applicable to Birthdays:
-I’m not getting older, I’m getting better.
-Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
-Please be patient, God isn’t finished with me yet.
-Too blessed to be depressed.
The point is this: As long as I am living and breathing, I can learn and grow and become closer to the person God wants me to be.
I still have many hopes, dreams, and plans; in fact, my list keeps growing!!! Another of my favorite clichés right now is “There are not enough hours in the day.” I’m blessed to say that this is true!!! There are so many things I’m interested in, that there is just not enough time to do everything. One of my prayers is that I will always use my gifts, talents, and abilities for the glory of God. God can use me and you to help others, to share His love, to spread His Gospel, and to build His Kingdom….as long as we let Him!!!
Everyday is a new beginning and a fresh start. Please remember this. Especially if you are having a “bad” day or are “down” for some reason. And especially remember this on your Birthday….and then have a Happy Birthday!!!
Dear God,
Thank You for Your many blessings!!! Thank You for making each day a fresh new start!!! Help me to become the person that You want me to be!!! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
