One Way
One Way
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
All throughout the Bible the Scriptures point to Jesus as the Way to God.
A couple of years ago I had to travel to my sister’s house via a different route. She leaves in a different town than I do; one that I’m not very familiar with. Since I didn’t know how to get there, I used Mapquest.com. This was before I had a GPS or an app on my phone. Mapquest.com had helped me in the past and had proven to be a useful tool for me. When I got the directions, they seemed a little complicated. So I called and asked my sister if there was a shortcut. She said there was, and gave me the new directions.
Well I tried the shortcut and soon realized that I had made a big mistake. I got lost. Somehow I must have missed a turn or made a wrong turn and started going in the wrong direction. So my first impulse was to ask a stranger at a mall which direction I should go. Another mistake; the person did not give me good directions and I got even more lost. Then I tried to figure it out on my own, without the help of anyone else. Another mistake; I just got more and more lost. I finally “gave up”, called my sister, explained where I was, asked for help, and got the right directions.
In the Bible, God told us the Way to get to Him: Jesus. All we need to do is follow Jesus. Sometimes we foolishly try other methods. We may try to take a shortcut and go the “easy” way. Or we may try to go a different way by listening to what others may say. Or we may just try to get through life and figure it all out on our own. It is so easy to lose our way, get lost, and go astray in this world.
I knew from past experience that Mapquest would show me the right way to get me where I wanted to go. I also know that Jesus is the Way….because God told us!!! We should listen to God…He is the ultimate Mapquest!!!
Dear God,
Thank You for Your many blessings!!! Help me to always follow Jesus and not go astray!!!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
