God Is Good! All The Time!

Let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.  Hebrews 13:15

One of the things that I love about my church is that it offers both traditional and contemporary worship services every week.  I’m really pleased to hear that more and more churches are doing this.  Although I like both types of services, I freely admit that the contemporary (praise) service is my favorite!  It is called the praise service because we sing a lot of contemporary Christian songs (we even have a praise band) and we also have “praise reports.”  During the “praise reports” anyone can give praise and thanks to God for something that He has done in their life the previous week.  These reports are wonderful and inspiring; they range from adults who tell about miracles to very young children who praise and thank God for the sometimes simple, but always important, things that happen to them.  The congregation often applauds after the praise reports to show gratitude to God.  After all the praise reports are done the pastor always says, “God is good!”  and the congregation responds “All the time!”

There may be times in our life when something bad happens and we may not feel like saying, “God is good! All the time!”  We probably do not understand why these bad things happen.  We don’t have to.  All we have to do is have faith that God is in control of our lives.  God can always make something good come from something bad.  That is why we should, as the above Scripture says, “constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise”.  God has blessed us and will continue to, and we should always express our gratitude to Him.

Although you can worship and praise God at home, there are many benefits to attending church with other Christians.  When you attend church you get to worship God with others, your faith is strengthened and renewed, and you get the support and fellowship of other believers.  You also get to hear Scripture, hear how the Scripture applies to your life, and receive the sacrament of holy communion.

If you have never attended a contemporary (praise) service, I would highly recommend that you try it….you might like it!  Whatever worship service you attend, however, I hope that you will remember the phrase, “God is good! All the time!”  You may even start to say it frequently, even when you’re not at church…I do!

Dear God,

Thank You for Your many blessings!!!  Thank You for being so good!!!  All the time!!!  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen
